A globe valve is a type of linear motion valve used to stop, start, and—most importantly—regulate the flow of fluid through a pipe.
It gets its name from its traditional spherical body shape. Unlike a ball valve, which is great for a quick “on/off,” the globe valve is the “dimmer switch” of the piping world; it excels at throttling (controlling the volume and pressure of flow).
